Loan investment: wind farm Les Royeux Energies

The Les Royeux Energies wind farm (Aisne department, Hauts‑de‑France, France) consists of three wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 9.6 MW. Together, they generate approximately 22 GWh of green electricity per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of around 6,200 households.

The Les Royeux Energies wind project is an example of citizen participation through a loan‑based investment in the project company.

Fundraising timeline

  1. PHASE ONE: Fundraising is reserved for residents of the Aisne department, with preferential conditions for residents of the Thiérache du Centre municipality.
  2. PHASE TWO: After approximately two weeks, the fundraising is extended to residents of the Hauts‑de‑France region.
  3. PHASE THREE: After approximately one month, the fundraising is opened to the whole of France.

Key characteristics of loan‑based investment:

  • Greater involvement during the wind farm development phase;
  • Short‑term investment with a fixed repayment schedule and a predetermined interest rate;
  • Subordinated to bank financing, but ranked ahead of shareholders;
  • Lower risk profile and a straightforward investment structure.
